Last month and this month were really good and more and more coming up. I had the Black and White affair, The Masquerade Party, A Fashion Show and i did 'Seduction2'. But among those gigs, i got the experience of the "REAL" Kenyan entertainment scene, or behind the scenes if you may. I'm talking about what happens behind the scenes of an event. The planning, organizing, and decision making and not to forget the agreements made whether verbal or written. To cut the long story short, i got screwed, and not in the good way.
For reasons you should understand, i will not mention who. For that particular event, i found out that the equipment i had been promised (Pioneer cdj 800-mk2) had been replaced with some complicated and a bit faulty Denon 500, mind you i hadn't even known there were denon turntables! I had to buy rc cables, a usb cable for the serato SL box that id be re-reimbursed later and to add insult to injury, i never got paid in full. I was promised to have the money transferred to my mobile account by the next morning but when the time came, my calls and text messages went unanswered.Don't get it wrong, its not the money i was upset about. . .well maybe a little, but its the principle. A man is only as good as his word, and if you disappoint someone the first time, don't expect him to work with you again.
So i wondered, do i look like a mouse? Am i so easily pushed around that nobody takes me serious? If that's the case then i will stop dealing with the business side and let someone else handle that.
So now, i have a manager/agent. Its not yet official, were still working on some kinks here and there about branding and packaging, but when it becomes official, you'll know. He seems like a nice guy, well, he IS! and he can definitely get the job done! (lucky me)
So, who's the mouse now!
